Mars in Pisces 15 November 2018 at 22:20 universal time

Mars enters Pisces, where he will stay until 02:19 on 1 January 2019 when, on the first day of our New Year, he will enter Aries, the first degree of the first sign which marks first day of the Astrological New Year (1.)

It is his Piscean coloured oomph which will turn the tides for both Neptune and Chiron who will both change direction and who will both be joined by Mars while he is in this sign. The headline of Mars in Pisces (Neptune’s sign) and for Mars with Neptune is: the Archetype of the Spiritual Warrior.

Mars in Pisces has an energy of flow…it’s a good time to ask that your will be directed by Spirit… to loosen your attachments to outcomes or goals that are driven by the ego…. to make friends with the mystery, to embrace the uncertainty. Have you ever read Neil Gaiman’s book Stardust? The hero of the story crosses an imposing boundary and goes into a mysterious and magical (and dangerous) land on a quest to find and retrieve something that will help him to get what he is so sure that he wants. Yet he goes on to discover that what he finds is so much better, so magical, so special and it truly makes him happy. This is Mars in Pisces.

There’s an opportunity to put energy, drive, action, effort (Mars) into whatever practices you follow that allow you to deepen into your spirituality (Neptune)…. to put this energy, drive, action, effort (Mars) into fluid artistry (Neptune) such as dance, painting, poetry…into pursuing that which the soul calls for, into pursuits which allow you to hear the soul’s call… stillness, silence, meditation…

With Mars in Pisces, there is the opportunity to temper the way in which we stand up for ourselves and how we hold our boundaries with compassion. It’s an energy which softens the boundaries and which softens the defences. If you are someone who resonates with the concept of your boundaries being blurred, that you give too much, that you find it hard to say no, that you feel guilty for having needs, that you feel badly when you follow your own will…then this is a really good time to make the space…through silence, stillness, spiritual practices… so that you can really listen to your own intuition, to the guidance from your own Allies / Higher Self … so that you respond for the highest good (which may feel bad at first) as opposed to responding so that everyone can feel good (which may have a more lasting feeling of bad.) Whatever you resonate with, it’s always a good time and it’s the key to making the most of this time, to Anchor your Action in Spirit.

Mars in Pisces brings with it the opportunity to carve out time to connect with yourself. If you can access a body of water, such as an ocean, a lake, a river, it’s a particularly good time to spend some alone time with it. In fact, it’s an especially good time to connect with water in general, if it is your wont. For example, as you sip water, you could cultivate an awareness of what the water is doing for you, of how it is helping you, of how it is nourishing you. You could cultivate an attitude of welcoming it into your body and of saying thanks. Or, for example, as you shower or bathe, you could connect with and ask of the water that it cleanses and carries away with it any feelings you may have which you feel need cleansing or to be carried away. Know (have faith) that this is happening as you witness the water draining away. Show thanks to the water by adopting any healthier habits that you can around what it is that you put into the water, for example, by using environmentally friendlier products…by generating less waste.

If there is something which you find daunting… courage (Mars) comes from Spirit (Neptune)… access it by taking action.

It is possible that you won’t feel as driven or as energised as usual. Use discernment so that you can focus on and deliver on those things which you must while giving yourself the time and the space to rest. Watch for escapist tendencies and other unhealthy Neptunian activities…such as too much alcohol, drugs, sleep and so forth.

During this time of Mars in Pisces, Mars and Neptune will square Mercury’s prolongued journey with Jupiter (more to follow) and this is part of something which is potentially really quite special: it’s a process which leads to Mercury’s conjunction with Jupiter and a delicious Venus trine Neptune on the day of the Solstice (there really will be more on this!!) … and it’s a process which takes us to Mars entering his own sign, Aries on New Year’s day…stitching the beginning of our calendar’s  year together with the energy of the beginning of astrology’s year … more on this to follow too…

Sweet dreams :)

As ever, this is an interpretation of the symbols from my perspective and for information only. When I say you/ us / we etc. I mean me… and you as well but only if it feels right to you and only if you want to.
